Project Renewment The First Retirement Model for Career Women Thursday, June 11, 2009, 7:00 pm Druker Auditorium, Newton Free Library
For the first time in history, millions of career women, who have worked outside the home for most of their lives, are considering retirement. Discovering What’s Next invites you to join author Helen Dennis on Thursday, June 11, 7:00 pm, Newton Free Library, 3rd floor HUB, for a discussion on her book, co-written with Bernice Bratter, “Project Renewment”. Without role models, women look to one another to face the challenges this life transition brings. “Renewment” is a word made up by the authors as an alternative to the word “retirement”. A combination of retirement and renewal, “renewment” suggests optimism and opportunity, growth and self discovery. Join Ms. Dennis for the discussion of a new journey, vocabulary and vision for highly effective women embarking on their next chapter of life. Registration is required for this free program. Email to info@discoveringwhatsnext.com or phone 617-796-1419. Please register by Monday, June 9th. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PREVIOUS AUTHOR TALKS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Doug Dickson, contributing author to Audacious Aging, will give an author talk and book signing on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 7:30 pm in the Newton Free Library’s Druker Auditorium. Audacious Aging is a collection of thought-provoking and inspirational essays on the topic of what is possible in the second half of life. The book will change your view of aging and open your eyes to opportunities you may never have imagined. Contributors range from researchers, who reveal new scientific insights about the process of aging; to thought leaders, who share new perspectives on getting the most out of life; to social commentators, who illuminate new models for the power and potential of older adults in our society. You’ll recognize many of the contributors to this anthology, as well as well-known writers and personalities. You’ll also find new voices, including DWN’s own Doug Dickson, vice president and member of our board. His chapter, entitled “Becoming Audacious,” offers a model for designing a more purposeful and satisfying life as you age. There will be books available for purchase and signing by Doug at the event. For more information and to register for this free event, call the DWN HUB at 617-796-1419 or info@discoveringwhatsnext.com |
