WHAT WE DO:  Workshops

In the fall of 2007, DWN is offering a Legacy Series, sponsored by Village Bank (Offered through Newton Community Education):

Creating a Legacy, Cyndi Jones, Instructor.  Learn to create a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.  This workshop will help you to make a difference that will last forever.  It will help to clarify your values and begin to envision a plan that will involve your family, community, or society in an intentional, enduring way. Wednesday, October 3, 2007, 7 - 9:00 pm.

Creating a Giving Circle to Expand Your Charitable Donations, Kate Guedj, Instructor.  Giving Circles are groups of donors who place some of their charitable dollars into a pooled fund, and determine as a group which charities to support.  In this way, donations have greater impact on the nonprofit recipient.  Giving Circles represent a growing trend in philanthropy.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 7 - 9:00 pm

Planning for Your Legacy: Grandchildren Do's and Don'ts, Jim Thompson, Instructor. This workshop will cover the pros and cons of leaving a legacy to your grandchildren or other young loved ones. Participants will share their experiences for mutual benefit. The outcome will be greater clarity about the financial and emotional implications of giving to grandchildren. Resource lists will be provided.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 7 - 9:00pm

Recording Your Life Story on Video, Geoff Birmingham, Instructor.  Recording your life story on video for your family can be of great value to you and your descendants. We'll help you begin the process of recording your own stories. You'll consider a variety of ways to explore life experiences, examining the themes of your life, relating favorite anecdotes, and recording values or wisdom for future generations. We'll discuss how to improve the quality of these interviews through video and audio techniques.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007 - 7 - 9:00 pm

Location for Workshops: Newton North High School.
